While toys might seem like a nuisance for some of us now, we all know deep down that we all loved toys in the past and some of us still love them. Toys allow us to remember the past and even enjoy some quality time with our kids or family and when we are little, toys allow us to develop our mind and body in order to be able to better cope with the real word. In the past, there were gender locked toys where boys would be getting cars while girls would get dolls. Times changed though and there are now a lot of toys aimed at both girls and boys which are not really locked to a specific gender and do allow them to develop as a person disregarding their gender.
A few decades ago there has been a breakthrough in which toys were started to be made with movie influences. These toys basically allowed children and even adults in some cases to recreate certain scenes from movies or games without having to spend too much money. One of the best-known movie franchises ever made and also one of the comic books, and later cartoons, that marked the childhood of many people was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic which first appeared back in 1984 and since then it spawned many versions such as movies, cartoons or even TV series.
While the comic books only appealed to some people, the movies as well as the cartoons were a lot more successful mostly because back in the ‘80s and early ‘90s people were starting to enjoy TV programs a lot more. This was also the time when many kids started to watch the series and many of them loved it so it was only natural that companies would release Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toys in order to meet the demands of these kids and allow them to experience the series on an entirely new level.
Just as we mentioned above, in the past most girls liked dolls and most boys liked cars or even superhero toys. However, things changed now and despite the fact technology has a big advantage with most kids having a smart phone, they still play with toys but instead of being gender-locked, the toys do have a much broader range. Let’s take for example the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series and the toys it spawned. While small kids are in love with them, there are also plenty of adults who own and play with memorabilia from this series which will most likely turn quite valuable in the future.
Now that we took a look at the types of toys there are out there and what type of people play with them, let’s also take a look at the different materials toys are built from and what is the best for different age groups. For kids under three years the best possible toys are those that don’t have small parts that can be detached. This is because kids usually break these parts off and eat them, so there could be many problems due to it.
However, for those over three years, there aren’t exactly too many restrictions so manufacturers can do a lot of really cool stuff in order to impress kids. For example, the Teenage Turtles series can not only spawn the figures of the four main characters but there are also their cars, weapons, and even friends. This means that kids will basically be able to play and imagine many different scenarios allowing them to boost their creativity.
One type of toys that really caught on during the last decades are those that let kids or adults build different settings. One good example of that are the Lego bricks which will allow you build pretty much anything. There are also quite a few others that come in a series such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toy series that can be bought in individual packages and when all the pieces are combined the end result is a large diorama with all the characters in the latest movies as well as their home and a few weapons which make for a really interesting display.
Moving further up, kids over 12 years and adults are not as interested in toys as the lower aged kids but there are still quite a few out there which would love to play or collect different movie or comic books memorabilia. For this particular group, manufacturers do take a very different approach in which they build very details figures of the movie characters and their items in order to make those that play with them feel like they own a real piece from the movie or cartoons. These toys are usually a lot more expensive than the others as well as more fragile, so they might not be suited for younger people. Also, these toys can and usually will be built in a limited series, so their value, in the long run, will only go up which will make many people keep them in original state and they will not even break the original packaging, basically defeating the purpose of a toy.
Let’s now take a look at what types of toys can be bought from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Thanks to the fact this series has been rebooted back in 2014 there are plenty of manufacturers that started building these toys and there is also a really large variety of models which can range from cheap toys for kids under three years old and all the way up to hand built models which can cost thousands of dollars. The four main characters: Donatello, Leonardo, Raphael and Michelangelo; are built by many and prices can start from as low as $5 for a basic figure and it can go up to more than $100 for a truly unique hand built figurine. Some companies also make the villains such as the Shredder which usually costs just as much as the four main heroes.
These usually sell the best but the accessories are also just as important and sometimes just as great selling. Their Party Wagon is also great and it can provide kids with a great toy to play with and to add to their collection. However, this usually starts at more than $30 while a really high details model will set you back more than $500. Their headquarters is also available for sale at many retail stores and the prices vary greatly between $50 for a base model and more than $400 for a really nice, high-quality model. Take into account though that this is not really available in a large size and for those, an expert will easily charge more than $1,000 for a one of a kind model.
